The Lusaka team had the pleasure of hosting iDE (International Development Enterprises) representatives — Nadia Campos-Soriano, Senior Director, Innovation Lab and Bwalya Chirwa, the Behaviour Science Design Researcher, — for a field observation of the Pit Vac technology under the FSM Action Research Project in Lusaka.
The visit also included a tour of the Matero Treatment Plant, where they witnessed the full cycle of Faecal Sludge Treatment from drying beds to the innovative use of biogas generated on site for cooking.
Such field engagements highlight how innovation across the entire sanitation service chain — from pit emptying to treatment and reuse — plays a crucial role in creating safe, sustainable, and circular sanitation solutions for our communities.
